Product Description
The Protect system from BorderSystem (Belgium) is a portable UWB (Ultra-Wideband) radio-based personnel safety solution for hazardous locations. Delivered in a single suitcase that doubles as a charger, it deploys in under one minute — four anchor markers are placed randomly around the site and self-locate automatically, while up to six personnel wear compact TAG devices within the defined safety zone.
How does boundary warning work?
A safety zone perimeter is defined using a plotter/tracker. When a worker approaches the boundary, both their TAG and the nearest anchor marker emit a luminous warning signal. The system achieves ±10 cm positioning accuracy with under 20 ms response time, operating 24/7 in both indoor and outdoor environments. Exclusion zones can be defined within the main safety zone — for example, around staircases, elevator shafts, or tipping hazards near heavy machinery.
What happens if a marker fails?
The system features real-time resilience algorithms that allow continued operation even if an anchor marker disappears due to failure, obstruction, or sabotage. Obstacle detection and rejection algorithms filter out false readings from physical obstructions, maintaining reliable boundary monitoring in complex site environments typical of quarries, demolition projects, and construction sites.
