Product Description

The Inovance NICE900 is an integrated door operator controller that consolidates a variable-frequency AC drive and door open/close logic sequencer into a single compact unit. Designed for passenger and freight elevator doors, cold storage doors, and subway platform screen doors, it eliminates the need for a separate PLC or door control board. The 32-bit DSP running at 150 MHz executes flux vector or closed-loop vector control algorithms, driving both asynchronous AC induction motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) across three power ratings: 200 W (S0P2), 400 W (S0P4), and 750 W (S0P7).

How do the two door control modes differ?

In speed control mode, the NICE900 uses four travel switches — open end, close end, open deceleration, and close deceleration — to sequence door movement. This mode suits standard landing and car door applications where switch-based positioning is adequate. In distance control mode, an incremental encoder mounted on the motor shaft provides continuous position feedback to the DSP, enabling the controller to compute door panel position, speed, and acceleration in real time without travel switches. An automatic door width learning routine, executed once during commissioning, measures the full travel distance by driving the door through a complete open-close cycle and recording the encoder pulse count. Subsequent operation references this stored width for all positioning decisions.

What motor commissioning features are built in?

Motor parameter auto-tuning measures stator resistance, rotor resistance, leakage inductance, and mutual inductance by injecting test signals while the motor is stationary — the door does not move during tuning. Inertia recognition runs during the first door cycle after tuning, measuring the combined door panel and motor rotor inertia to optimize acceleration and deceleration ramp rates. These features allow a single NICE900 model to adapt to different motor manufacturers and door weights without manual parameter entry. The keypad with LED display and membrane buttons provides local access to all 13 function code groups (F0–F9, FA, FF, FP) for commissioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

What safety protections does it provide?

Beyond standard drive protections — over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, phase-to-phase short circuit, and output phase loss — the NICE900 implements a power-loss anti-pinch function. On mains failure, the controller uses residual energy in the DC bus capacitors to execute a controlled deceleration and door reversal, preventing entrapment. The carrier frequency is adjustable from 2 kHz to 16 kHz to balance acoustic noise against motor heating. An external braking resistor terminal is provided for applications requiring rapid deceleration of high-inertia door panels.
