Product Description

The CRTP series is an inductive rotation control sensor from AECO designed to detect shaft rotation and confirm standstill in industrial machinery. It provides a relay output that changes state based on the presence or absence of rotational movement, enabling safety interlocking and machine control sequences that depend on confirmed shaft status — such as guard door release only after spindle stop, or conveyor restart confirmation.

How does inductive rotation detection work?

The sensor detects the passing of ferrous metal targets (gear teeth, bolt heads, keyways, or dedicated target discs) mounted on the rotating shaft. When the shaft rotates, the passing targets generate pulses at the sensor output. When rotation stops, the absence of pulses triggers a state change after a configurable timeout. This non-contact sensing principle operates reliably in dirty, oily, and high-vibration environments where optical encoders or mechanical limit switches would degrade.
