Product Description
The CRYSOUND CRY208 is an RS485 hub module designed to multiply the sensor-count capacity of a noise monitoring host system. One CRY208 provides eight independent RS485 slave ports, each capable of connecting a single CRY2110 or CRY2112 series sound level sensor — effectively turning one host RS485 port into eight synchronously sampled measurement channels. All eight channels share the same Modbus RTU protocol and are polled sequentially by the host, with the hub handling signal buffering and bus arbitration transparently.
How does daisy-chaining scale the system beyond eight sensors?
The CRY208's master port connects to the host computer or PLC via a standard RS485 bus. Because RS485 is a multi-drop bus architecture, multiple CRY208 hubs can be connected in parallel on the same physical bus segment — each hub appears as a distinct Modbus slave address. With five CRY208 units on a single bus, the system supports 35 sensors; with RS485 repeaters and proper bus segmentation, deployments exceeding 100 sensors are achievable. Each sensor returns sound pressure level, frequency-weighted values (A/C/Z), and time-weighted values (Fast/Slow) at a 48 kHz ADC sampling rate over a dynamic range exceeding 110 dB — no range-switching required. This architecture is particularly suited to factory-wide noise mapping, where dozens of measurement points across multiple production halls must be aggregated into a single SCADA or environmental monitoring dashboard.
What sensor types work with the CRY208?
The hub is designed for CRYSOUND's CRY2110 and CRY2112 series sound level sensors — stainless-steel-bodied, corrosion-resistant transducers measuring 24.5 mm in diameter and 115 mm in length. These sensors output noise data digitally over RS-485 (Modbus RTU) and optionally provide a 4–20 mA or 1–5 V / 2–10 V analogue output for direct PLC connection. Measurement ranges span 25–130 dBA by default, expandable to 22–160 dBA depending on the microphone capsule selected. Powered by 5–24 VDC from the CRY208 hub, the sensors require no local power supply, simplifying installation in distributed monitoring networks.
