The Pepperl+Fuchs IDM series is a Bluetooth handheld reader for Zone 1/21 hazardous locations, where a normal scanner could be an ignition source. Certified to ATEX and IECEx with an intrinsically safe marking, it scans 1D barcodes and, on the 2D model, Data Matrix and QR codes inside the hazardous area.

Why pair a scanner with the VisuNet HMI instead of a wired reader?

Bluetooth removes the cable that limits where an operator can scan and eliminates a potential fault point in an explosive atmosphere. The reader pairs with Pepperl+Fuchs VisuNet HMI components, and charging happens in a dedicated base station, so no exposed connector enters the zone.
