Product Description

The VSS series is a purpose-built suction valve for vacuum bagging processes in composite manufacturing — carbon fibre layup, fibreglass laminating, and resin infusion. Unlike a general-purpose vacuum valve, the VSS is designed to be installed directly through the bag film: a steel distributor body sits inside the bag, while the anodised aluminium cam-lock coupler on the outside connects the vacuum line with a simple 90° turn. A silicone compression seal between the two halves maintains vacuum integrity at temperatures up to 220 °C, covering both room-temperature wet layup and elevated-temperature prepreg cure cycles.

Which size should I choose — VSS 3/8 in or VSS 1/2 in?

The VSS 3/8 in supports up to 10 m³/h recommended flow and requires a 16 mm hole in the bag. The VSS 1/2 in doubles the flow capacity to 20 m³/h with a 19 mm bag hole. For small to medium moulds and standard wet layup, the 3/8 in is usually sufficient. For large moulds, high-bleed fabrics, or infusion processes where rapid initial evacuation matters, the 1/2 in reduces pump-down time. Both accept standard quick-connect couplings and manual 2-way shut-off valves from VUOTOTECNICA's accessory range.
