The Armstrong Magnetics EPBS-C30 is a battery-activated control panel for electro-permanent lifting magnet systems. Unlike electromagnets that require continuous electrical power to maintain their grip, electro-permanent magnets use a brief current pulse to magnetize (or demagnetize) and retain their magnetic state without ongoing power — a critical safety feature for material handling where power interruption could otherwise drop the load.

How does the battery-activated magnetization cycle work?

The EPBS-C30 delivers a controlled current pulse from its integrated battery to the lifting magnet's coil, establishing a permanent magnetic field that holds the load indefinitely. A reverse-polarity pulse demagnetizes the magnet to release. The control panel manages the magnetize/demagnetize sequence timing, current amplitude, and polarity switching. Because battery power is only consumed during the brief magnetization and demagnetization pulses — not during the hold period — the system operates for extended periods between battery charges, and the load remains securely held even if the control panel is disconnected or its battery is depleted.
