Product Description

The E²CON family from AVAT Automation GmbH provides multivariable closed-loop control for stationary gas engines in CHP plants, marine propulsion, and industrial power generation. A single fast controller — the E²CORE-control — regulates speed, power, and air/gas mixture simultaneously, replacing separate governor, power, and mixture controllers.

What safety and emissions features are built in?

Per-cylinder knock detection with high-selectivity algorithms. Misfire detection triggers automatic power reduction down to engine shutdown if needed. Direct NOx probe connection enables real-time combustion control; cloud-based monitoring supports BImSchV compliance reporting. Wastegate and ignition timing management for efficiency optimization.

What fuel types are supported?

Natural gas, biogas, wood gas, special gases, LNG (marine), and hydrogen — up to 100% H₂ for H₂-ready variants. Premix lean-burn and dual-fuel combustion types, 4 to 20 cylinders.

How is it integrated with plant systems?

CAN and Ethernet interfaces provide redundant connections to ignition systems, SCADA, and vessel automation. Built on AVAT's openECS modular platform with Bachmann M1 industrial PLCs — expandable from engine control to complete plant SCADA through a single unified concept. Remote service via E²SERVICE visualization software and AVAT CONNECT VPN router.
