The unidor compactPRESS is an industrial PC-based monitoring and control platform purpose-built for high-speed stamping and metal forming presses. It continuously acquires and evaluates analog and digital signals from force sensors, encoders, and transmitters, reacting to process irregularities within a ≤100 μs EtherCAT cycle — faster than a single press stroke at maximum speed.

What press functions does compactPRESS monitor and protect?

The system provides comprehensive tool and die protection: tonnage monitoring detects overloads, die protection catches misfeeds and double-sheet conditions, slug detection prevents tool damage from ejected slugs, and force measurement tracks press force profiles over time. It also supports control cam evaluation, deformation monitoring, and tape thickness measurement for lamination and progressive die applications.

How does the system integrate into production networks?

compactPRESS includes an OPC UA interface for Industry 4.0 connectivity, enabling real-time production data streaming to MES and ERP systems. The touch-screen HMI features teach-in functions that learn process parameters automatically, reducing setup time. Production and quality data are continuously archived for traceability and process optimization.

Built on a modular IPC platform with customizable touch HMI, compactPRESS supports up to 12 independent product channels, 6 rotary motors with flexible assignment, and up to 16 sliders per channel with end-position monitoring.
