How does the 2-zone detection and suppression work?

Each zone can be configured with independent detection inputs and suppression outputs — for example, one zone protecting the engine compartment and another covering a battery enclosure or passenger area. When a fire is detected by linear heat detectors or CO sensors, the CV-X triggers the corresponding suppression release while monitoring wiring for interruptions and short circuits throughout. The system maintains full functionality during vehicle power loss through integrated battery-free backup power.

What role do CO sensors play?

Dafo CO sensors (models 55-2656-00/05/06) connect to the CV-X via CAN bus for early detection of lithium-ion battery thermal runaway. CO is released during the initial off-gassing phase of battery failure — before smoke or flame appears — giving operators critical early warning. This capability is increasingly specified for electric and hybrid bus fleets where battery fire risk must be managed without false alarms.
