Product Description
The Top 200 is Sir Meccanica's patented portable CNC orbital lathe, built to machine the internal and external surfaces of fixed, non-rotating tubular bodies that a conventional lathe cannot reach. It clamps into the pipe with an internal self-centring expansion system and orbits the tool around the workpiece.
Why orbit the tool instead of rotating the workpiece?
A fixed pipe in a plant cannot be spun, so a conventional lathe has nothing to turn. The Top 200 fastens onto the pipe and drives the tool in a circular orbit around it, machining bores, threads and faces on site — the reason a welded-in tube is re-machined without cutting it out and shipping it to a shop.
