Product Description

Bench supplies spend most of their life in constant-voltage mode, which is why the waveform function of ALR3220 is easy to overlook - until a device under test needs a brown-out or a load step to reveal a weak supply pin.

Why does a bench supply need waveform shaping?

Because a power rail rarely switches on cleanly in the field. Setting a ramp, square or arbitrary waveform lets a motor controller, relay or power module be exercised against the sag and surge it will actually meet, with timing from 10 ms to 60 min - a fault that would otherwise surface only after the equipment ships. The CV/CC behaviour is automatic, so a stalled motor or shorted output folds back to current limit instead of tripping the whole bench.

When does the interface selection matter?

When the supply has to join an automated sequence. Isolated USB, RS232 and RS485 cover bench-side and rack-side control, and the analog 0-10 V input allows an external DAC or PLC to steer the output without touching the front panel. Accuracy of 0.03% + 10 mV on voltage and 0.05% + 10 mA on current keeps programmed values honest for calibration-style work.
