Product Description
The Lamtec FMS (Firing Management System) is a combined combustion control and burner management platform that replaces separate fuel/air ratio controllers, burner sequencers, and O₂ trim units with a single integrated device. TÜV-certified and compliant with EN 298 and TRD 604, the FMS handles the complete combustion control chain — from pre-ventilation through ignition and load control to post-purge — across power ranges from 20 kW packaged burners to 250 MW multi-burner utility boilers. Three independent safety interlock chains ensure that combustion safety remains hardware-enforced, independent of the electronic control logic.
How does the FMS electronic fuel/air ratio control work?
The FMS drives up to 5 positioning channels — typically fuel valve, air damper, flue gas recirculation, and auxiliary actuators — via 3-point step or continuous 0-10 V / 4-20 mA outputs. Each channel follows a user-defined curve of up to 20 interpolation points stored in EEPROM, with 999-digit resolution per curve. Two independent correction inputs accept 0/4-20 mA signals for disturbance feedforward compensation — for example, adjusting the fuel/air ratio in response to varying inlet air temperature or fluctuating fuel calorific value. The system supports 2, 4, or 8 curve sets depending on configuration, enabling optimized combustion across multiple fuels or operating regimes from a single device.
What multi-fuel and combustion optimization capabilities does the FMS offer?
The FMS supports sliding fuel changeover — transitioning from oil to gas or vice versa without interrupting burner operation — as well as true simultaneous dual-fuel firing with a variable mixture ratio. Up to three fuels can be managed in a single installation. Integrated O₂ and CO trim, working with Lamtec LT1/LT2/LT3 in-situ sensors via the LAMTEC SYSTEM BUS, continuously optimizes combustion efficiency by correcting the fuel/air ratio in real time based on measured flue gas composition. An integrated gas valve leakage test function (per DIN V 3447 / prEN 1643) further consolidates what would otherwise require separate test hardware.
How does the FMS integrate with plant-level control systems?
The FMS communicates with higher-level DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems via optional fieldbus interface cards supporting PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU/TCP, INTERBUS-S, and CANopen. An RS232 port enables local connection to a PC or modem for commissioning, parameter backup, and remote diagnostics. For web-based visualization, the VISIOCONTROL option provides a browser-accessible interface for monitoring combustion parameters, curve visualization, and alarm management without requiring dedicated HMI software. Digital I/O includes 16 inputs and 8 to 16 outputs for hardwired interlock signals, flame scanners, and valve actuation.
