An aluminum gear pump is light and cheap, but a dump truck hoist puts 20+ MPa into a pump that bounces on a chassis at -20 C in winter. Why a 100 ml/r displacement on a 2500 rpm PTO instead of a smaller, faster pump?

Because the hoist cycle time is set by how much oil the pump moves per stroke, and a 100 ml/r pump at 2000 rpm delivers 200 l/min without asking the engine for high idle. The 22 MPa rated and 25 MPa peak rating covers the weight of a full load of wet gravel at max extension, and the 92 percent volumetric efficiency means less of the engine power turns into heat in the tank. It is a Chinese-built workhorse sized for Sinotruk-class dumpers and refuse trucks, not a precision industrial pump.
