Product Description

The TLE9879 belongs to the Infineon MOTIX family of embedded power ICs, combining a microcontroller core with the analog and power stages needed to drive a three-phase BLDC motor. The result is a single VQFN-48 part that replaces a discrete MCU, gate driver, LIN transceiver and regulator.

What is on the die

An ARM Cortex-M3 at 40 MHz runs field-oriented control, while six programmable gate drivers with a charge pump switch external N-channel MOSFETs. A low-side shunt amplifier feeds current back for torque and speed loops, and a 10-bit ADC monitors battery voltage, temperature and internal signals.

  • 128 KB flash and 6 KB RAM, with EEPROM emulation
  • Integrated LIN 2.2 transceiver plus UART and SSC
  • Single supply from 5.5 to 28 V, down to 3 V during cranking
  • Junction temperature range -40 to 150 C

Automotive-qualified and aimed at pumps and fans, the device targets fuel pumps, HVAC blowers, engine cooling fans and water pumps, where integrating the drive stage trims both cost and board area.
