    GuardLink runs safety devices on a single daisy-chained cable, so adding a gate or E-stop is one tap instead of a home-run back to the relay. Hardwired safety needs point-to-point cables for every device, which grows fast in device count and cabinet space.

    No. GuardLink is the safety communication link between devices; you still need a safety relay or, more often, a safety PLC that understands the GuardLink telegram to make the stop decision. It removes the wiring, not the logic.

    Is GuardLink proprietary to one vendor?

    GuardLink is Rockwell's open safety protocol, and third-party devices with GuardLink interfaces exist, but the ecosystem is centered on Allen-Bradley safety controllers. If you mix brands, confirm the controller supports GuardLink before committing.
