The Dwyer A-396A is a compact, hand-operated calibration pump designed to generate pressures from a fraction of an inch of water column up to 72 psig (5 bar). It serves as a portable pressure source for calibrating pressure gauges, transmitters, and switches when used with a manometer or other pressure standard.

The pump features an integral bleed valve for pressure release and a vernier adjuster for fine pressure control. For pressures below a few inches of water column, the vernier knob alone can be used to achieve the desired pressure. For pressures above 40 psi, it is recommended to replace the barbed fitting with a 1/8" NPT male compression fitting and appropriately sized rigid tubing.

Installation requires connecting the pump to both the pressure standard and the device under test using the supplied tee connector. The vent valve is closed during pressurization, and pressure is released after testing by opening the valve. Teflon tape is recommended for sealing pipe threads to maintain pressure integrity.

The A-396A includes a barbed fitting, tee connector, and three 36-inch lengths of vinyl tubing. Its rugged construction and portability make it suitable for field or workshop calibration tasks.
