Product Description
The HI-SCAN 7555 DV is a dual-view X-ray baggage inspection system that generates two orthogonal images — top-down and side-on — in a single conveyor pass. Conventional single-view scanners require the operator to mentally reconstruct a 3D object from one 2D projection, which risks missing threats oriented parallel to the beam. The DV eliminates this ambiguity: a sheet explosive laid flat in a laptop bag, nearly invisible in top-down view, presents a distinct density profile in the side-on view. The operator sees both simultaneously on dual 24″ 120 Hz monitors.
Why does ECAC EDS CB C1 certification matter?
ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference) EDS CB C1 is the mandatory standard for automated explosives detection in cabin baggage screening at European airports. A C1-certified system can autonomously clear bags — the algorithm, not the operator, makes the explosives/no-explosives decision for the majority of baggage, with only unresolved alarms requiring human image interpretation. The 7555 DV achieved this certification with its standard detection engine, meaning airports can deploy it immediately for regulatory-compliant automated screening without additional hardware or software retrofits.
What does dual-view add beyond single-view X-ray?
A single-view X-ray scanner produces one projection image. Dense objects can hide behind denser objects aligned along the beam path, and thin planar threats — sheet explosives, ceramic blades, flexible circuit-board concealments — can present negligible cross-section when viewed edge-on. The 7555 DV's second, orthogonal beam path ensures that any object thin in one orientation is broad in the other. This dual perspective also accelerates operator throughput: there is no need to reposition the bag for a second scan, and the side-by-side monitor layout allows simultaneous comparison rather than sequential review.
What do the optional iCMORE modules add?
iCMORE (Intelligent Cargo MOnitoring & REcognition) is Smiths Detection's AI-based object recognition platform. The Weapons module automatically flags pistols, revolvers, flick knives, fixed-blade knives, and disassembled gun components. The Currency module detects large bundles of banknotes — relevant for cash-smuggling interdiction at borders. Both modules run on the same hardware as the explosives detection engine and present alerts as screen overlays rather than separate workstation screens, keeping the operator's attention on a single interface.
