Product Description
The DPT-Ctrl combines a MEMS-based differential pressure sensor and a full PID controller in a single IP54-rated unit for HVAC air handling applications. It measures pressure or calculates air flow, then drives a 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA control signal directly to fans, VAV boxes, or damper actuators — no separate transmitter and controller is required. A 2-line LCD displays measured value and control output direction. Two pressure ranges are available: 0-2500 Pa and 0-7000 Pa.
How does MEMS sensing differ from traditional diaphragm sensors?
The MEMS (micro-electromechanical system) sensor element has no gas flow through it, unlike bypass-type thermal mass flow sensors. This makes it inherently resistant to dust and particle contamination — a common failure mode in building air systems. Combined with automatic zero-point calibration via the autozero (-AZ) option, the sensor maintains long-term stability without manual recalibration.
What PID parameters can be adjusted on the unit?
The proportional band (0-10,000), integral time/gain (0-1,000), and derivative factor (0-1,000) are all menu-configurable via push-buttons directly on the device. Setpoint, measurement units (Pa, kPa, mbar, inWC, mmWC, psi for pressure; m³/s, m³/h, cfm, l/s for volume flow), and response time (1-20 s) are also selectable — no software tools or PC connection needed.
How does the Modbus variant integrate with building management systems?
The DPT-Ctrl-MOD adds an RS-485 Modbus RTU interface with selectable baud rate and addresses 1-247, enabling direct integration with BMS controllers. It also includes an external input that accepts 0-10 V, NTC10k, Pt1000, Ni1000, or binary signals — useful for incorporating an auxiliary temperature sensor or remote setpoint adjustment into the same unit.
