The WS156 from Milesight IoT is a LoRaWAN smart scene panel with 6 programmable buttons and a 2.9-inch E-ink display (128×296 px). It triggers predefined automation scenes — lighting, blinds, HVAC — with a single button press. No LoRaWAN gateway is required when operating in Milesight D2D mode.

How does Milesight D2D (Device-to-Device) work?

D2D is a proprietary peer-to-peer protocol built on LoRa physical layer. The WS156 can directly command other Milesight nodes — such as the UC100 curtain controller, UC300 fan controller, or WS502 light switch — without routing through a gateway. Response time is under 1 second. Each of the 6 buttons can independently operate in either standard LoRaWAN mode or D2D mode, and a single button press can trigger multiple devices simultaneously (one-to-many).

How is the panel configured?

NFC one-touch setup via the Milesight ToolBox mobile app. Button labels, scene assignments, and the E-ink display image are configured from a smartphone. The E-ink screen retains its image indefinitely without power — the last displayed scene name or custom graphic remains visible even after the batteries are removed.

What is the power and installation setup?

Powered by two CR2450 coin cell batteries, rated for approximately 3 years at 20 button presses per day. Mounting options: desktop stand, 3M adhesive tape, or standard 86×86 mm junction box. Dimensions: 86 × 86 × 14 mm. IP30 rated for indoor environments.

What LoRaWAN frequency bands are supported?

CN470, RU864, IN865, EU868, US915, AU915, KR920, and AS923 — covering global deployment. The panel operates as a LoRaWAN Class A device with OTAA or ABP activation.
