Cat 6E vs. Cat 6A: which one for this installation?

Cat 6E (100MHz, Class E) handles 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet and 155Mbit/s ATM — the vast majority of office and building-management networks never exceed this. Cat 6A (500MHz, Class EA) is rated for 10GBASE-T at up to 100m. If you are not running 10-Gigabit Ethernet today and have no plan to within the cabling lifetime, Cat 6E is the cost-effective choice. If the conduit is difficult to re-pull later, consider the Cat 6A variant (5TG2027-1) as future-proofing.

Why shielded? When does it matter?

The shield drains EMI to ground through the LSA-Plus terminal block and the metal housing. This matters when the data cable runs parallel to power lines in the same conduit — common in retrofit installations where adding a separate data conduit is impractical. In pure data-only conduits with UTP cable, the shield provides no benefit but also does no harm.

What makes LSA-Plus different from screw or punch-down terminals?

LSA-Plus (Löt-, Schraub- und Abisolierfrei — solder-free, screw-free, strip-free) is an insulation-displacement technology. The contact slot cuts through the wire insulation and grips the copper conductor in one press, making a gas-tight connection that resists corrosion. No stripping, no screw to work loose from vibration. Unlike 110-style punch-down, LSA-Plus is re-terminable — pull the wire and re-press if you make a mistake.

Which cover frames fit?

This is a DELTA system modular insert — it snaps into standard DELTA module carriers and accepts cover frames from DELTA line, DELTA miro, DELTA profil, and DELTA style. One module carrier can hold up to two single-width inserts (e.g., one RJ45 data outlet + one TV antenna socket). Cover frame and module carrier sold separately.
