Product Description

The RMF Systems CMS (Contamination Monitoring System) is an in-line fluid condition monitor engineered for permanent installation on hydraulic systems. It provides continuous, real-time measurement of the three parameters that determine hydraulic fluid health — solid particle contamination, water content, and temperature — enabling predictive maintenance and preventing contamination-related component failures in industrial and mobile hydraulic circuits.

What does the CMS measure and how?

The CMS uses optical particle counting across 8 size channels to quantify solid contamination, reporting results in ISO 4406:1999, NAS 1638, AS 4059E, or ISO 11218 cleanliness codes. A capacitive relative humidity sensor measures water content as percent saturation — the most meaningful metric because a fluid's water-holding capacity changes with temperature and additive depletion. The built-in temperature sensor compensates the humidity reading and provides independent fluid temperature monitoring. All three parameters are refreshed continuously and displayed on the optional graphical LCD with keypad.

How does the data logging and alarm system work?

The CMS stores approximately 4,000 time-stamped measurement records in non-volatile memory, each tagged with the unit's serial number for traceability. Programmable alarm relays with multi-color LED indicators alert operators when any parameter exceeds its defined threshold. Data can be retrieved locally via RS-485 or USB (CMS USBi interface) using the Windows-based CMS software, which also supports automatic scheduled downloads and historical trend analysis — no PLC or external data acquisition hardware required.
