Product Description
The ROLAND ELECTRONIC I10 KV is a non-contact inductive measurement system that verifies the correct number of aluminum-foil blister strips inside sealed pharmaceutical cartons — without opening the package. It was developed as a faster, more compact alternative to weighing-based fill verification, which requires precise tare weight knowledge and is sensitive to package material variations and line vibration.
How does eddy current sensing count blister strips through a closed carton?
A sealed carton passes through the alternating magnetic field generated by the sensor head. The aluminum foil in each blister strip acts as a conductive target — the eddy currents induced in the foil load the magnetic field, and the resulting damping signal is proportional to the total number of foil strips present. The system evaluates the maximum damping amplitude and classifies the package into one of three outputs: OUT1 (overfill — too many strips), OUT2 (normfill — correct count), or OUT3 (underfill — missing strips). The measurement is inertia-free, requiring only approximately 100 mm of conveyor space, and operates reliably at pharmaceutical packaging line speeds.
What makes I10 KV faster than weighing-based verification?
Conventional check-weighing requires the package to be stationary or moving slowly across a weigh cell, and accuracy depends on consistent package tare weight — which varies between carton batches, insert materials, and humidity conditions. I10 KV eliminates the tare-weight variable entirely by sensing only the metallic content (blister foil), ignoring paper, plastic, and moisture. RS232 serial output provides ASCII measurement data for each package, enabling batch traceability documentation and statistical process control without a separate data acquisition system.
