How does parallel and cascade operation work?

The RWA 4 A natively supports parallel operation of connected drives and, via DIP-switch configuration, can cascade up to 8 control panels in a master/slave arrangement. This allows a single trigger — from an automatic smoke detector or a break-glass manual call point — to coordinate ventilation opening across multiple zones. Each panel in the cascade maintains its own battery backup and drive circuits, so a fault in one zone does not compromise emergency operation elsewhere. The cascade architecture scales SHEV coverage from a single stairwell to a multi-zone commercial building without requiring a larger centralised panel.

What monitoring and service features are built in?

The RWA 4 A continuously monitors detector circuits (automatic smoke/heat detectors and manual call points), emergency battery condition, and connected 24 V DC drives for open-circuit and short-circuit faults. An integrated service timer tracks operating hours and prompts scheduled maintenance. The PC service port allows advanced parameter configuration — including DIP-switch special functions, ventilation timings, and cascade addressing — via a laptop interface. Line monitoring of drive cabling uses diode-based supervision, and motor circuits are individually fused at FKS 10 A with screw terminals accepting up to 6 mm² conductors.
