Product Description
Xeryon stages move by ultrasonic piezo resonance, not by a rotating motor — the drive signal is a frequency, and the controller tunes it digitally. The XD-C bundles signal generation, amplification and encoder readout for one stage into an 80 x 54 x 23 mm box that plugs straight into USB-C.
Why pick a piezo stage over a screw-driven stage for fine positioning?
A screw or leadscrew stage carries backlash and wind-up, so a 78 nm move can come out as tens of micrometres of slop. The XD-C reads the stage's own encoder and closes the loop at 78 nm linear or 3 µrad rotary, so the stage holds the commanded position without drift — the reason a vision-inspection or metrology setup trusts it to sit still between exposures.
