Product Description
The Fluke Process Instruments CS400 is a 3D thermal imaging system purpose-built for continuous monitoring of rotary kiln shell integrity in cement, mineral, and lime processing plants. It combines an MP Linescanner with HgCdTe detector technology to capture 1024-pixel scan lines at 3.5–4 µm spectral response, generating real-time two-dimensional temperature maps that are rendered as navigable 3D models of the entire kiln surface.
How does the CS400 detect and prevent refractory failure?
The system achieves single-brick-resolution hot spot detection even in shadowed areas behind the kiln tire rings, thanks to the 90° scan angle and 510:1 optical spot detection ratio. Unlimited software-defined zone alarms can be configured along the kiln length, with three hardware relay outputs for fail-safe hot-spot alarming to the plant control system. Envelope profiles track temperature deviation across the full kiln circumference, providing early warning of refractory thinning or coating loss before a catastrophic failure occurs.
What software and visualization tools are included?
The ThermoView software platform generates polar charts for coating and brick thickness estimation, 3D walkthrough views per defined kiln zone, and free-scalable areas of interest with temperature trend analysis. An integrated refractory management database correlates thermal history with brick installation records, while on-network storage preserves historical data for audit and maintenance planning. The system supports monitoring of multiple kilns from a single software instance.
What optional accessories extend the system?
An optional Endurance Ratio Pyrometer adds burning-zone temperature measurement from 600°C to 1800°C, while the MI3LTH Shadow Monitor provides tire slip and creep detection from −40°C to 600°C. The ThermoView TV40 thermal imager can be integrated for supplementary spot measurements beyond the linescanner field of view. The system supports up to six tire slip monitor channels and 32 I/O modules with up to 16 digital outputs per module.
