Product Description
The FS340/FS641 is motrona's precision controller for flying saws and shears that cut endless material without stopping the line. The FS340 sets cutting length from the keypad; the FS641 adds front thumbwheel switches and four relay outputs.
Why does a flying saw need its own controller?
The blade has to synchronise to a line that is still moving — a general positioner is not built for the on-the-fly correction that flying cutting demands. The FS340/FS641 tracks a 300 kHz encoder feed and corrects inside a 250 µs loop, so the cut stays on length even while the line speed changes.
- 300 kHz (TTL) / 200 kHz (HTL) input
- ~250 µs control loop, S-shape profiles
- 14-bit ±10 V or 0/4-20 mA output
- PROFIBUS DP option
Against a general position controller, the FS340/FS641 is tuned to the flying cut — the reason the blade lands on the mark at changing line speed.
