The ACME CEW-4 is a microprocessor-based wireless gas detection and control panel designed to monitor up to four remote GasPost sensor-transmitters without field wiring. Communication between the panel and sensors operates on 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz license-free radio bands, allowing plug-and-play installation with minimal setup cost.

How do the wireless sensors communicate with the panel?

Each GasPost sensor-transmitter contains a battery designed for continuous 2-year operation and communicates wirelessly with the CEW-4 panel using FCC, IC, ETSI, and CE approved RF modules. The panel's LCD continuously displays gas concentration readings, alarm level status (Low, High, Alarm), battery voltage, and elapsed time since the last sensor transmission. Sensors are also available in 24 V AC powered versions for applications where battery replacement is impractical.

What output configurations are available?

Each of the four channels can be configured for independent or grouped (zoned) operation. In independent mode, each channel controls its own fan zone with a dedicated SPDT relay output at Low gas level and an optional 4-20 mA signal proportional to the gas reading. In grouped mode, channels are combined into zones serving multiple fans, with individual group relay outputs and a common High and Alarm level SPDT relay across all channels. This flexibility supports both simple single-zone parking garages and multi-zone ventilation strategies.

What gases can the CEW-4 detect?

The panel supports a wide range of sensor technologies — catalytic bead for combustible gases, electrochemical for toxic gases (CO, NO₂, H₂S, Cl₂, SO₂, O₂), and infrared for CO₂ hydrocarbons and refrigerants. This multi-technology compatibility allows a single CEW-4 panel to monitor different gas types on each channel, making it suitable for parking garages (CO/NO₂), confined space entry monitoring (O₂/combustibles/H₂S), and industrial ambient air surveillance.
