Product Description

The 5UB1941 is the mid-tier model in the 5UB194x aluminum metallic range — it takes the increased touch protection and labeling field of the 5UB1940 and adds a front-facing operating display LED. The green indicator makes the socket's power status visible at a glance, which matters more in practice than it sounds.

What does the operating display actually show?

The LED indicates one thing: the socket is receiving mains voltage. Green means live; dark means the circuit is dead — whether from a tripped breaker, a disconnected upstream connection, or a wiring fault. The display does not report protection status (that requires the dual-function display on the 5UB1942) and it does not detect load current — an unloaded socket with live terminals still shows green. It is a simple, reliable presence-of-voltage indicator powered directly from the socket's input terminals.

When is a power-on LED genuinely useful?

The practical value shows up in three scenarios. First, sockets that live behind furniture or appliances — when a device stops working, walking over and seeing a dark LED instantly tells you the socket is dead; you do not waste time checking the device. Second, basement and utility-room sockets that are rarely used — the green glow confirms the circuit is live before you plug in a tool or a dehumidifier. Third, commercial and light-industrial environments where multiple sockets share a circuit — the LED lets maintenance staff scan a row of sockets and instantly spot which ones are on which breaker during fault-finding. If your sockets are always visible and you rarely need to troubleshoot, the 5UB1940 without the LED is the lighter and less expensive choice.

How does the 5UB1941 fit between the 5UB1940 and 5UB1942?

The 5UB194x aluminum metallic range forms a clean three-tier ladder:

  • 5UB1940 (84g): Touch protection + labeling — the safety-and-identification essentials.
  • 5UB1941 (89g, this model): Adds the operating display — 5g heavier for the LED and its carrier PCB. Best when you value at-a-glance power status.
  • 5UB1942 (111g): Upgrades the simple LED to a dual-function display and adds varistor-based overvoltage protection — the full-featured flagship.

All three share the same aluminum metallic finish, screwless terminals, 55×55mm insert format, and 10/16A 250V rating.
