Product Description
The PIUSI ACCESS 85 is an electronic pump access control unit designed to secure multi-user fuel dispensing operations — agriculture, haulage fleets, mining, and construction — without requiring complex fuel management software (FMS) or a PC. Each authorised user carries an i-Button electronic key; presenting the key to the ACCESS 85 reader enables the pump for that dispensing session. The system is manufactured entirely in Italy by PIUSI and installs on both new tank installations and as a retrofit to existing AC fuel pumps.
How does nozzle detection and dry-run prevention work?
The ACCESS 85 monitors the nozzle holster contact — when the nozzle is removed from its cradle and the pump start button is pressed, dispensing begins. Returning the nozzle to the holster automatically stops the pump and ends the session. When connected to an OCIO tank level gauge or a low-level probe, the controller prevents the pump from running dry by blocking operation when the tank level falls below a configurable threshold. A variable timed-delivery function automatically stops the pump after a preset duration, preventing unintended dispensing if the operator leaves the pump unattended.
What distinguishes ACCESS 85 from full FMS-based fuel management?
Full fuel management systems log every litre dispensed per user, per vehicle, and per time — valuable for cost-allocation billing but requiring database software, network infrastructure, and IT support. ACCESS 85 provides the security layer (who can dispense) without the reporting layer (how much they dispensed). This makes it suited to operations that need access control — preventing unauthorised use and fuel theft — but do not require per-transaction accounting. The manager key configures user access, and the system runs standalone thereafter.
