Product Description
The QpLite is Komax's entry-level crimp force monitor (CFM) designed for benchtop crimping presses in wire harness manufacturing. It captures and analyzes the force-displacement curve of every crimp cycle in real time, comparing each curve against stored reference profiles to detect deviations caused by incorrect wire placement, missing strands, or tool wear before defective products leave the workstation.
How does crimp force curve analysis detect quality issues?
The QpLite records force as a function of crimping displacement for each cycle. When a crimp falls outside the preset tolerance envelope — whether due to wrong wire cross-section, missing wire strands, or incorrect strip length — the system flags it immediately. Up to eight tolerance profiles can be stored, each assigned to a different wire-terminal combination for quick changeover between production runs.
What software-upgradable modules are available?
The base unit includes core CFM functionality. Three premium modules can be enabled via software license without hardware changes: Headroom Analysis evaluates how much safety margin remains within the tolerance envelope; Material Verification uses barcode scanning to validate operator identity, wire type, terminal, applicator, and seal against the QpNet database, blocking the press if materials do not match the job setup; and Quality Validation interfaces with external Komax quality stations such as the Qstat 100 pull-force tester for correlated crimp quality reporting.
How does the QpLite integrate into a production network?
Standard Ethernet connectivity allows each QpLite to log all crimp data to a central server for traceability. Combined with the optional Material Verification module, the system creates a complete digital record linking each crimp to its operator, machine, applicator, and material batch — supporting full traceability requirements in automotive and aerospace wire harness manufacturing.
