Product Description

Aerospace aluminum components and automotive molds require high-speed machining with exceptional surface finish – but traditional 3-axis machines cannot reach all surfaces without repositioning, and conventional 5-axis machines often lack the speed and stability for productive aluminum cutting. NICOLAS CORREA XPIDER is a 5-axis high-speed Top Gantry milling machine with a unique HDC concrete-steel hybrid structure that provides high damping capacity, rigidity and thermal stability. Spindle speeds up to 24,000rpm with 60kW power, feed rates up to 60m/min – designed specifically for demanding aerospace aluminum parts and medium-sized injection and stamping molds.

What makes the HDC concrete-steel hybrid structure unique?

Conventional steel gantry machines transmit vibration through the structure, compromising surface finish. HDC (High Density Concrete) is a high-density concrete mixed with micro-fibers developed by Nicolás Correa. It provides three advantages: high damping capacity that absorbs cutting vibration, high rigidity for heavy cutting, and thermal stability that maintains geometry despite shop temperature changes. The crossbeam uses a steel-insulator-steel tri-layer system that minimizes geometric change from thermal variations. This replaces all-steel machines that require temperature-controlled environments to maintain accuracy.

What spindle and speed options are available?

The XPIDER offers spindle speeds of 6,000, 12,000 or 24,000 rpm with power ratings of 30kW, 35kW or 60kW. The 24,000 rpm electrospindle (E5E) is specifically designed for high-speed finishing of aluminum. The octagonal ram section shortens the distance between the ram center and crossbeam center, improving Z-axis precision. This replaces lower-speed machines that cannot achieve the surface finishes required for aerospace and mold applications.

How fast can the XPIDER move?

Feed rates reach 45 m/min in all three axes, with 60 m/min optional in X and Y. At these speeds, the machine maintains geometric precision through direct Z-axis drive and linear guides on all axes. The machine's dynamic behavior is parametrizable for roughing or finishing operations. This replaces slower machines that cannot achieve productive material removal rates in aluminum.
