The Rosenberg TR Basic is a wall-mounted microprocessor controller designed to regulate temperature in air handling units (AHUs) and ventilation systems. It integrates heating and cooling sequence control, fan monitoring, frost protection, and fire alarm input into a single panel — eliminating the need for separate temperature controllers, timers, and safety interlocks. The controller is pre-configured for Rosenberg Airbox AHUs and compatible with a wide range of fan motor types.

How does cascade control work in TR Basic?

TR Basic supports two cascade strategies. Room/supply air cascade uses the room temperature sensor as the primary control variable, with supply air temperature limited to a configurable minimum to prevent cold drafts during heating. Exhaust/supply air cascade is suited to laboratories and industrial spaces where extracted air temperature represents the space condition more accurately than a single room sensor. In both modes, the controller sequences hot-water coils or electric heaters (up to 4 stages) for heating, and chilled-water coils or direct-expansion units for cooling, while modulating intake and exhaust dampers in coordination.

What safety and monitoring functions are included?

TR Basic monitors supply and extract fan overload relays, filter differential pressure switches, and electric heater overtemperature sensors. A dedicated digital input for frost protection automatically closes outdoor air dampers and drives the heating coil valve to maximum flow when the frost thermostat triggers. A fire alarm input can be wired to smoke detectors or a building fire alarm panel to shut down the AHU and close fire dampers. All alarm states are indicated on the front-panel text display and available as volt-free contacts for connection to a BMS.
