Product Description
The KOBOLD KAL-D is a compact, calorimetric (thermal) flow switch engineered for reliable flow/no-flow detection in water-based liquids (≥90% water content). Its solid-state design features no moving parts, ensuring maintenance-free operation and a long service life in demanding industrial environments. The all 316-Ti stainless steel wetted parts provide excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of water monitoring applications.
Technology & Features
The KAL-D operates on the principle of thermal dispersion. The sensor tip contains an element heated a few degrees above the medium temperature. As the liquid flows, it dissipates heat; the cooling effect is proportional to the flow velocity. A microprocessor provides temperature compensation, ensuring accurate switching points despite fluctuating process temperatures. The compact design allows for easy installation in space-constrained locations, and the dual LED (green/red) provides clear local indication of flow status.

Installation Requirements
The KAL-D flow switch is designed for direct insertion into pipelines. It is ideal for pipe diameters from 1/2" to 6". For reliable operation, ensure the sensor tip is fully immersed in the flow stream. The compact housing can be rotated 360° for optimal cable routing. The adjustable setpoint allows field calibration to match specific system requirements.
