Product Description

The Bosch CWC (Compact hot water boiler Control) is a PLC‑based boiler control system designed to replace complex, individually engineered control panels with a modular, pre‑configured solution. It enables fully automated operation of up to four hot water or heating boilers in a master/slave sequence, optimizing energy efficiency across the entire boiler house. The system arrives pre‑wired and factory‑configured to the specific boiler type and project requirements, including an integrated power supply for all connected actuators—burners, pumps, sensors—and a certified safety chain tested according to EU directives. Commissioning is reduced to connecting the pre‑labeled plugs and powering on, supported by system‑specific wiring diagrams and inspection documents included in the scope of delivery.

Intelligent Sequencing and Energy Optimization

  • Load‑Based Sequencing: The integrated sequence control continuously monitors the network flow temperature and automatically stages lag boilers on or off based on actual heat demand. This prevents all boilers from running simultaneously at part load—a common inefficiency in manually managed boiler houses—and ensures that the minimum number of boilers required to meet demand is always active. The lead boiler can be configured to alternate based on operating hours, equalizing wear across the fleet.
  • Pre‑Configured for Immediate Use: Unlike project‑specific BCO controls that require extensive on‑site programming, the CWC ships with all control parameters pre‑configured at the Bosch factory to match the installed boiler type and the project’s design specifications. This eliminates commissioning delays caused by control logic programming and ensures consistent, repeatable performance across multiple installations within a facility or across a portfolio of buildings.
  • Integrated Power Supply and Wiring: The compact control cabinet houses both the PLC controller and the power supply for all connected field devices—burners, circulation pumps, mixing valves, and sensors—eliminating the need for separate power distribution panels. All internal wiring between the controller, relays, contactors, and terminal blocks is completed and tested at the factory. The installer connects only the field devices to clearly labeled terminals, significantly reducing on‑site wiring time and the potential for connection errors.

Open Connectivity for Building Management Integration

  • Multi‑Protocol Support: The CWC communicates natively via Modbus TCP, Profibus DP, Profinet IO, and Industrial Ethernet. Pre‑configured data points for each protocol allow a direct connection to the site’s central building management system (BMS) or energy management platform without protocol converters or custom programming. The controller can transmit operating states, temperature values, and alarm conditions to the BMS and receive operational commands such as setpoint changes, mode switches, and load‑limiting signals.
  • Remote Access with MEC Remote: The optional Bosch MEC Remote module enables secure, browser‑based access to the CWC’s full user interface from any Internet‑connected device. Facility managers can view real‑time operating data, acknowledge alarms, and adjust parameters without traveling to the boiler room. The system can be configured to send alarm notifications via email or SMS to designated personnel. For critical issues, Bosch Industrial Service can provide remote diagnostic support directly through the MEC Remote connection, reducing response time and the cost of on‑site service visits.

Safety and Documentation

  • Certified Safety Chain: All switching devices in the safety chain—including the safety temperature limiter, pressure switches, and flame monitoring—are factory‑integrated and tested. The complete safety chain is certified according to applicable EU directives, providing documented compliance for insurance inspections and regulatory audits. System‑specific wiring diagrams and inspection documents are included with each CWC delivery, simplifying the documentation process for the installing contractor.

Applications

  • Commercial and public buildings requiring efficient multi‑boiler heating systems (schools, hospitals, office complexes, shopping centres)
  • District heating sub‑stations where compact, pre‑configured control reduces installation time and cost across multiple sites
  • Industrial facilities with hot water processes—such as food and beverage, chemical, and textile plants—where reliable heat supply is critical to production
  • Retrofit and modernization projects replacing legacy control panels with a modern, network‑compatible boiler management system
