How does TGT vibration-based grading work?

A mechanical striker taps the board to induce a longitudinal stress wave. A detector measures the natural frequency f of the resulting vibration. The system computes MOE_dyn = ρ × V², where wave velocity V = 2Lf and density ρ is derived from an optional integrated weight measurement combined with the board's dimensional settings. A validated mathematical model then predicts the board's strength class. The entire measurement cycle is non-destructive and takes a fraction of a second.

How does mtgBATCH integrate into a production line?

The system operates on a stop-and-go principle and mounts on any suitable third-party cross conveyor — no proprietary infeed or outfeed equipment is required. Boards enter the grading station, are measured, and are ejected with a grade assignment that downstream sorting equipment uses for automatic binning. A wireless link connects the mtgBATCH to a PC running Timber Grader software, which provides a user-friendly interface for class configuration, production reporting, and statistical process monitoring.
