Product Description
The CNC-STEP 1000PRO is a 3D scanning touch probe designed for digitizing physical workpieces on CNC routers and milling machines. By capturing point-cloud data from the surface of an existing object, it enables scan-to-mill reproduction workflows — the operator scans a physical part, generates an NC program from the captured data, and mills a replica on the same machine.
How does 3D omnidirectional scanning differ from a standard edge finder?
Conventional touch probes typically detect edges in two axes for workpiece zero-setting. The 1000PRO scans omnidirectionally in 3D, following the surface contour of complex shapes to capture geometry data across X, Y, and Z axes simultaneously. This makes it suitable for reproducing organic or freeform shapes that cannot be easily measured with manual tools.
Integration with CNC-STEP Machines
The probe connects directly to CNC-STEP High-Z series machines (models from October 2005 onward with the dedicated probe port) and other compatible CNC-STEP routers. Captured data is processed in WIN PCNC Profi software, where point clouds are converted into scalable NC toolpaths for milling operations.
