How does intelligent load shedding work?

The PRISMIC PMS initiates load shedding in under 10 ms using IEC 61850 GOOSE messaging — fast enough to prevent cascading blackouts when a generator trips or a transformer overloads. Hardwired and mixed schemes complete within 40 ms. The system supports multiple priority-based shed tables, under-frequency shedding with multiple ROCOF (rate-of-change-of-frequency) levels, gradual overload shedding, and turbine pre-trip warning shedding. Load shedding is tested via built-in simulation facilities without disrupting live operations.

How does generator management and redundancy operate?

Dual master controllers run in hot standby over redundant I/O modules and dual Ethernet connections. If communication between masters fails, each unit operates autonomously using its last-known system state. The system manages auto-start on low spinning reserve, auto-start prior to large motor starts, auto-stop on high spinning reserve, black start sequencing, and dual-fuel compensation. Active and reactive power sharing, voltage/frequency regulation, bus synchronising, and transformer tap-changer control are coordinated through the integrated HMI with 100 ms data refresh and 1 ms event time-stamping.
