The SonnePower SPC-SFMC-X2214A is a purpose-built mobile machine controller engineered to withstand the punishing conditions of off-highway, construction, mining, and agricultural environments. Unlike conventional PLCs designed for factory floors, this compact controller is designed from the ground up for mobile applications, offering a powerful combination of rugged hardware, flexible I/O, and industry-standard programming. Its IP67-rated PBT enclosure provides complete protection against dust, water, and high-pressure washdowns, while its advanced thermal design allows for reliable operation across an extreme temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. The controller also features excellent vibration and shock resistance, ensuring long-term reliability in high-vibration construction and mining machinery applications.

At the core of the SPC-SFMC-X2214A is the CoDeSys 3.5 runtime environment, fully compliant with the IEC 61131-3 standard. This provides engineers with a powerful, flexible, and widely adopted programming platform, eliminating the need for proprietary or vendor-specific software. The CoDeSys environment supports multiple languages, including Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram, and offers a comprehensive library of ready-to-use function blocks. This open approach drastically reduces development time, simplifies code reuse across different machine types, and makes the controller highly customizable for specific application requirements.

The controller provides a rich set of onboard I/O resources, with 29 highly configurable channels capable of handling digital, analog, and pulse signals. A key advantage is its ability to directly drive hydraulic solenoid valves via 7 high-side PWM outputs and a dedicated H-bridge circuit for bidirectional motor control. This eliminates the need for external amplifiers or relays, simplifying wiring harnesses, reducing potential points of failure, and lowering overall system cost. The controller also includes a 1-channel AB quadrature encoder input for precise position and speed sensing, as well as dedicated sensor supply outputs (5V/10V configurable) to power external sensors. All I/O ports are protected against miswiring to power or ground, and the output ports feature short-circuit, overheat, and open-circuit detection, providing comprehensive diagnostics and reducing troubleshooting time.

Connectivity is optimized for mobile machine architectures with two independent CAN bus interfaces supporting CANopen, SAE J1939, and custom protocols. This enables seamless integration with engine ECUs, displays, joysticks, and other intelligent subsystems commonly found on modern vehicles. A standard RS232 serial port is also provided for connecting legacy devices, GPS receivers, or radio modems. An integrated D+ signal input allows the controller to monitor the vehicle's ignition and charging status, enabling intelligent power management and event logging. With a wide power supply input range of 8–32V DC and a maximum load capacity of 15A, the controller can operate reliably even during battery voltage fluctuations common in heavy equipment.
