The defining design feature is the fine-thread needle stem, which provides a gradual orifice opening — a long stem travel from closed to fully open — giving the operator precise control over flow rate compared to the quarter-turn action of a ball valve. What materials and seat options are available?

The standard body material is 316 stainless steel bar stock, with titanium and custom alloys available on request for extreme chemical environments. Three soft seat materials cover the sealing and chemical compatibility spectrum: PTFE for general chemical service and low friction, RPTFE (reinforced PTFE) for improved wear resistance under frequent cycling, and UHMWPE for abrasive slurry or high-cycle applications where PTFE would cold-flow over time. The V-type packing below the stem threads provides a dynamic seal that tightens under system pressure — higher pressure increases the packing's contact force against the stem, maintaining a reliable seal at the full 207 bar (3,000 psi) rating.

What flow configurations does the IB series support?

The IB series extends beyond a simple 2-way needle valve. Multi-port body configurations — 3-way, 4-way, 5-way, and 6-way — are built by machining multiple flow paths into a single bar stock body, with each path controlled by its own needle stem. This enables compact manifold-style arrangements for switching between calibration gases, selecting sample streams, or diverting process fluids to different analytical instruments — all from a single valve body mounted on the instrument panel. End connections are offered in NPT threaded, ISO/BSP threaded, metric and fractional tube compression fittings, and butt-weld ends. Material test certificates (MTC 3.1) and hydraulic test certificates are available, and third-party inspection is offered on request.
