Product Description
The Siemens 8WH2000-1BG38 is a SENTRON 8WH2 spring-loaded fuse terminal for DIN rail mounting. It combines a pluggable blade-type fuse holder with a spring balancer connection and a built-in LED defect indicator that illuminates when the fuse blows. Designed for control panel wiring where fused circuit protection with immediate visual fault indication reduces troubleshooting time — the operator or maintenance technician can scan the terminal strip and spot the blown fuse instantly without opening the panel and probing with a meter.
12V or 24V — 8WH2000-1BG28 or 8WH2000-1BG38?
This is the sole difference between the two variants. The 8WH2000-1BG38 LED defect indicator is powered by 24V DC — the standard control voltage in European industrial panels. The 8WH2000-1BG28 uses 12V DC. All other specifications are identical: same 0.08–4.0mm² wire range, same 30A/400V rating, same 8.15mm width, same spring balancer connection, same black housing. Match the LED voltage to whatever control supply is available in your panel. In most European installations, that will be 24V DC.
How does the LED defect indicator work?
A small monitoring circuit across the fuse holder detects the voltage drop when the fuse element opens. In normal operation with an intact fuse, the voltage across the fuse is near zero (the fuse is essentially a short circuit), and the LED stays off. When the fuse blows, the open circuit develops a voltage across the fuse holder terminals. This voltage drives the LED circuit, illuminating the indicator. The LED is powered by the fault condition itself — no separate supply wiring is needed beyond the voltage reference connection. The 24V (or 12V) rating specifies the control voltage level the LED circuit expects; connect it to the corresponding DC supply in your panel.
What type of fuse does this terminal take?
The 8WH2000-1BG38 accepts standard pluggable blade-type fuses (automotive-style ATO/ATC format). The fuse is inserted from the front without tools — no screw terminals to open for fuse replacement. This is a key advantage over screw-type fuse holders in panels that require frequent fuse changes: the spring-loaded fuse seat grips the blade fuse securely while allowing quick swap-out by hand.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate end plate for this terminal?
No — the 8WH2000-1BG38 does not require an end plate. The terminal body is a complete insulated unit. Adjacent terminals on the DIN rail sit side by side without additional barriers.
Can I use this terminal with ferrules?
Yes — the spring-loaded connection accepts conductors from 0.08 to 4.0mm², with or without wire-end ferrules. For stranded wire, ferrules are recommended to prevent individual strands from splaying during insertion into the spring clamp.
