The SINAMICS G115D 6SL3520-1XB05-5AA0 is a 5.5 kW (7.5 hp) wall-mounted distributed drive — the most powerful AS-Interface variant in the G115D platform and the only one housed in the FSC frame. This 1XB-family unit delivers 13.2 A of continuous output current with 200% overload (26.4 A peak) for the heaviest conveyor applications, while communicating over the streamlined AS-i fieldbus protocol. The AA0 suffix provides the base configuration: AS-Interface communication, plug-in power and motor connections, without operator panel or daisy-chain, targeting cost-sensitive projects where 5.5 kW of distributed power is needed without PROFINET complexity.

FSC Frame — The 5.5–7.5 kW Workhorse. The FSC frame shares the same external dimensions as the fan-cooled FSB (425 × 180 × 169 mm) but packs a higher-rated power stage capable of 13.2 A continuous output. The integrated cooling fan is essential at this power level — semiconductor losses at 13.2 A far exceed what passive convection can dissipate. The FSC also includes an integrated braking resistor (88 Ω, 20 W continuous / 200 W peak) for regenerative energy absorption during deceleration and downhill conveyor operation, eliminating the need for an external resistor in all but the most demanding applications (minimum external resistor: 40 Ω for extended braking duty). The 24 V DC supply draws up to 580 mA (max) for the control electronics, with a typical draw of 540 mA.

5.5 kW AS-Interface — Where It Fits. At 5.5 kW, this drive powers heavy-duty conveyor applications: pallet-return belts, large merge tables, incline conveyors with significant elevation change, and main trunk lines carrying full product loads. The AS-Interface protocol's deterministic update time (typically 5 ms for a full scan of 31 slaves) is more than adequate for conveyor speed control where the mechanical time constant of a loaded belt far exceeds the bus cycle time. The AA0 variant omits the operator panel and daisy-chain — each 5.5 kW drive connects individually to the AS-i yellow cable and the 400 V power feeder. At 11.88 A input current, a single 5.5 kW drive requires a dedicated 16 A circuit; daisy-chaining at this power level is rarely practical due to the cumulative current draw approaching Q4/2 connector limits.

Integrated Braking Chopper. The built-in 88 Ω braking resistor handles regenerative energy from load deceleration and downhill-conveyor overhauling. At 20 W continuous dissipation, it covers periodic stops on flat conveyors. For applications with frequent or sustained regenerative operation — steep decline conveyors, high-inertia loads, or emergency-stop cycles — an external resistor (minimum 40 Ω) can be connected to the drive's braking terminals for higher dissipation capacity. The chopper activation voltage is factory-set to protect the DC bus during regeneration.
