The WALR24/2A employs dual redundant safety relays with force-guided contacts — if either relay welds or fails, the second relay still opens the safety circuit. On power-up, the outputs lock in the alarm state until a valid reset signal is received (≥200 ms contact closure). If the reset button is pressed while a sensor remains activated, the controller inhibits restart — preventing a single fault from defeating the safety function. Combined, these measures satisfy EN 954-1 Category 4: a single fault does not lead to loss of the safety function, and the fault is detected before the next demand.

What sensor types and wiring configurations are supported?

The WALR24/2A interfaces with WIDE's pressure-sensitive safety mats, safety bumpers, and safety edges — two independent sensor channels (terminals 5–6 and 8–9) are monitored for continuity. Multiple sensors can be wired in series on each channel thanks to the intrinsically low contact resistance of WIDE sensors. Wire cross-sections up to 2.5 mm² are accepted per terminal.

How does auto vs manual reset affect machine integration?

Manual reset (default, using an external NO pushbutton on terminals 2–3) keeps the safety outputs locked after each sensor activation until an operator deliberately restores operation — suitable for perimeter guarding where personnel could remain inside the hazardous area undetected. Automatic reset re-energizes the safety outputs as soon as the sensor clears, appropriate for presence-sensing applications where the hazard ceases immediately on withdrawal. The reset mode is field-configurable via terminal wiring.
