Product Description
The EUCHNER ESM-2H201 is a compact, universal two-hand control safety relay (Type IIIc evaluation unit) designed for safety circuits that require the highest level of protection. It complies with EN 574 Type III C and is certified to Category 4 / PL e (EN ISO 13849-1) and SILCL 3 (EN 62061), making it suitable for applications such as presses, punches, and bending tools. Due to its internal error monitoring and compact dimensions, it can be used for all applications up to the highest safety category.
Two-Hand Control with Simultaneity Monitoring
The ESM-2H201 is designed to set up and monitor two-hand circuits according to EN ISO 13851. Two pushbuttons, each with one normally closed (NC) and one normally open (NO) contact, are monitored for simultaneity. A dangerous work step can only be triggered when both two-hand buttons are operated simultaneously within 0.5 seconds. If only one button is actuated or the time between actuations exceeds 0.5 seconds, the output relays will not switch. The output relays are immediately de-energized when either button is released, and both buttons must be released and the feedback loop closed before a new operation can be initiated.
Redundant Safety Outputs with Comprehensive Monitoring
The ESM-2H201 features 2 redundant safety contacts (NO) that are floating, positively driven, and electrically decoupled. The device includes cyclical monitoring of the output contacts, a feedback loop for monitoring downstream contactors or expansion modules, and selectable short circuit and earth fault monitoring. Short circuit monitoring detects short circuits between connecting cables, while earth fault monitoring detects short circuits between a connecting cable and earth/ground, shutting down outputs or preventing relay starting if necessary.
Flexible Configuration and Long Control Cable Length
By using suitable wiring, the ESM-2H201 can select the function of monitoring downstream relays or contactors. The device supports control cable lengths of up to 1000 meters with a conductor cross-section of 0.75 mm², providing flexibility for large installations. LED status indicators (2 green LEDs for relays K1 and K2) provide clear visual indication of device status for easy commissioning and troubleshooting.
Compact Design for DIN Rail Mounting
The ESM-2H201 is housed in a compact PA6.6 polyamide enclosure with a width of only 22 mm, allowing high-density installation on 35 mm DIN rails (EN 60715 TH35). It operates reliably in ambient temperatures from -15°C to +60°C (DC version) and is rated IP20 for protection against solid foreign objects. The device is approved to UL and cUL standards, ensuring compliance for international applications.
