How does burst-fire control minimise electrical disturbance?

The PR1-E uses zero-voltage switching with burst-fire control: the TRIAC switches only at the mains zero-crossing point, conducting complete half-cycles in bursts proportional to the demanded power level. Unlike phase-angle firing, which chops each half-cycle and generates harmonic distortion and RFI, burst-fire control maintains a clean sinusoidal current waveform and unity power factor. The thermal inertia of the resistive load smooths the burst nature into a steady temperature. An integral heatsink with over-temperature sensor trips the controller above 90°C and automatically resets below 85°C, protecting the TRIAC junction from thermal runaway.

What alarm and monitoring features are built in?

A DIL-switch-configurable voltage-free alarm relay (rated 2 A at 125 VAC) signals fault conditions to external monitoring systems. The relay can be set to energise only on fault or to remain continuously energised with de-energisation on fault — the latter providing fail-safe operation where a wiring break also triggers the alarm. Sensor loss detection causes the LED to pulse rapidly, distinguishing a disconnected control signal from a zero-input command. An optional remote supply input accepts 24 V AC or DC to keep the alarm circuit operational even during a mains phase loss, enabling failure diagnosis on de-energised systems.
