Product Description
The burster DIGIFORCE® 9311 is a universal process controller that evaluates force‑displacement, torque‑angle, and process curves. It monitors repetitive production processes in which a physical variable (force, pressure, torque) varies as a function of another variable (displacement, angle, time) according to a defined curve. Typical applications include press‑fit monitoring, joining, riveting, caulking, spring testing, torque‑angle monitoring, crimping, and dual‑mass flywheel assembly. The controller is available in two versions: a standard model with a 3.5″ touchscreen, and a DIN‑rail‑mounted model without display (9311‑V2xxx) for control‑cabinet integration.
Measurement Inputs and Sensor Flexibility
- Two measurement channels can be active simultaneously, each configurable for strain‑gauge sensors, potentiometric displacement transducers, or process signals (0‑20 mA, 4‑20 mA, 0‑10 V). Piezoelectric sensors are also supported.
- burster TEDS provides automatic sensor identification. When a burster sensor with a programmed EEPROM connector is plugged in, the DIGIFORCE 9311 reads the sensor type, measurement range, and calibration date directly and configures the measurement channel automatically—eliminating parameter entry errors.
- Measurement accuracy is < 0.2 % of full scale for strain‑gauge, potentiometric, and process‑signal inputs; for piezoelectric sensors the accuracy is < 1 % F.S.
Evaluation, Programs, and Data Handling
- Evaluation time: 25 ms. The DIGIFORCE 9311 captures an X/Y measurement curve, checks it against all configured evaluation elements, and delivers an OK/NOK judgment within 25 ms after the measurement stop condition is met.
- 16 measurement programs can be stored in the controller. Each program contains sensor configuration, evaluation elements (windows, envelopes, thresholds, trapezoid windows), and logic combinations. This allows fast changeover between different product variants.
- Auto‑setup can automatically generate evaluation elements from a reference measurement curve. An operator simply runs a known‑good part; the controller constructs the tolerance envelope around it, dramatically reducing setup time.
- Data logging: Curve data can be exported to a USB flash drive. The DigiControl PC software enables synchronous multi‑channel logging, curve analysis, and reporting. Up to 50 of the most recent measurements remain stored on the controller for immediate display and analysis.
- Operator management supports worker, admin, and identification‑data handling. A components counter tracks the processed‑parts count. Acoustic and optical error indication provides immediate process‑status feedback at the workstation.
Fieldbus Integration for Production Automation
- Fieldbus support: PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, and EtherCAT are all supported, plus a standard PLC I/O interface with user‑configurable inputs/outputs and six real‑time switching signals.
- Live sensor values and evaluation results (OK/NOK, curve data, user‑defined values) are transmitted directly via the Fieldbus interface, enabling real‑time process control in automated production lines.
- Versions Available: The 9311‑V2xxx (without display) is designed for DIN‑rail mounting and remote integration, while the standard 9311 includes the touchscreen and suits standalone workstations.
Applications
- Press‑fit insertion of bearings, bushings, valve seats
