The 535 is a 1/4 DIN single-loop PID process controller by Moore Industries that accepts virtually any industrial sensorthermocouple, RTD, mA, mV, or voltage — through a single universal input. Four modular output slots accept plug-in cards: analog (4–20 mA, 16-bit), mechanical relay (5 A SPDT), solid-state relay, DC logic (SSR drive), or loop power supply (24 VDC, 25 mA). This modularity lets a single controller family handle temperature, pressure, level, and flow loops across a plant without stocking multiple controller types.

How does the self-tuning work?

The 535 offers three on-demand pretune types plus adaptive POWERTUNE — which continuously adjusts PID parameters during normal operation to maintain tight control as process dynamics change. POWERBACK predictive overshoot protection anticipates the setpoint approach and backs off the control output to prevent setpoint overshoot without extending settling time. Eight local setpoints stored in memory can be selected from the front panel or remotely via BCD digital inputs, and an optional 20-recipe/24-segment profiler handles ramp-soak applications with three event outputs per segment.

How does the 535 integrate into larger control systems?

Optional RS-485 serial communication with Modbus protocol connects the controller to SCADA or DCS for remote setpoint adjustment, PV monitoring, and parameter upload/download. The remote setpoint input accepts 0/4–20 mA or 0/1–5 VDC with configurable ratio and bias — enabling cascade control or plant-wide setpoint coordination. Any analog output not used for control can retransmit PV, setpoint, ramp SP, or controller output to a remote indicator or data acquisition system.
