Product Description

Welding H-beams for steel structures presents a geometry problem: the weld seams run along both sides of the web and both flanges. A 6-axis robot cannot reach the far side of a 600mm-wide beam without repositioning the beam – each reposition costs alignment accuracy. ARCBRO Smart H-beam is a 7-axis arc welding robot with 2127mm reach, 3D vision guidance, and IP65 protection, designed specifically for H-beam welding. Programming takes 0.5 hours – 20x faster than traditional welding robots.

How does a 2127mm reach help with H-beam welding?

An H-beam can be over 1m wide between flange edges. A typical 6-axis welding robot with 1400mm reach cannot reach the far flange without rotating the beam. Smart H-beam reaches 2127mm – enough to weld both flanges and the web from one side, without repositioning the workpiece. The 7-axis arm provides the flexibility to orient the torch at the correct angle for each weld joint, including fillet welds in tight corners. This replaces manual welding stations that require flipping the beam between passes.

What does 3D vision add to a welding robot?

H-beams are not perfectly straight – they warp during cutting and handling. A position-controlled robot would follow a programmed path and miss the joint if the beam is bent. Smart H-beam's 3D vision system scans the actual workpiece position before welding, correcting deviations up to 30mm automatically. It identifies the workpiece even with position deviation, without affecting weld quality. This replaces mechanical fixturing that requires shimming and clamping to achieve repeatable positioning.

Why does programming time matter for steel fabrication?

Steel fabricators weld hundreds of different H-beam configurations – length, flange width, web height, weld type all vary. Traditional welding robots require 10 hours of programming per new beam type – the robot sits idle while a programmer works offline. Smart H-beam reduces programming to 0.5 hours using a standard profile library – select the beam profile, set dimensions, and the system generates the weld path automatically. Production and programming are synchronized – the robot does not need to stop. This replaces dedicated welding programmers with shop-floor operators.
