The NV-Pro is a robot-integrated 3D vision system from NACHI-FUJIKOSHI, designed as an optional module that embeds directly into the AX-series robot controller. Unlike standalone vision systems that require a separate industrial PC and communication link to the robot, the NV-Pro runs vision processing on the robot controller itself — reducing integration complexity, latency, and hardware footprint. Camera images are displayed in color on the teach pendant, and all measurement configurations are managed through the same pendant interface.

What 3D vision tools are available on the NV-Pro?

The NV-Pro offers three 3D sensing modalities. Stereo Vision uses NACHI's independently developed algorithm to measure the 3D position of workpieces for random bin picking with position offset correction. Cross-Laser 3D Sensing projects intersecting laser lines to identify tilt, height, and hole positions of bulk-stacked sheets and boxes for de-stacking applications — it can be combined with the stereo module for hybrid operation. The Surface Pattern Matching variant maps component surface contours against 3D CAD data or reference library images, enabling identification of parts that lack distinct edges or holes. Multiple components can be processed per image sequence with queued offset storage for reduced cycle time.

How does controller integration benefit deployment compared to external vision systems?

Integrating vision processing into the AX controller eliminates the external PC, separate monitor, and dedicated communication cabling that traditional robot vision setups require. Offset data is transferred internally between the vision engine and the robot motion planner without network latency. The system supports up to 4 monochrome cameras at resolutions up to 1600 × 1200 pixels, with up to 999 measurement registrations. The automatic exposure function provides a 4× improvement in environmental resistance compared to previous NACHI vision systems, adapting to changing ambient light conditions without manual recalibration.
