The 6SL3520-1XH22-2AF0 is the PROFINET variant at the 2.2 kW entry point of the G115D FSB frame. Electrically identical to its AA0 sibling at 11.8 A output, it adds PROFIdrive communication while retaining the FSB frame's fanless cooling — natural convection alone dissipates the drive losses at this power level.

PROFINET at the FSB entry point

2.2 kW is a common motor size for mid-length conveyor sections, roller beds, and transfer cars. Putting PROFINET on this drive class means the PLC exchanges cyclic process data — speed setpoint, actual speed, motor current, torque — with every mid-power drive on the line, not just the large ones. Diagnostics that were once reserved for the 5.5 kW and 7.5 kW main drives now extend to the 2.2 kW sections: if motor current creeps up due to a stiff roller bearing, the trend is visible in the SCADA historian. The AF0 interface also means TIA Portal handles parameter assignment, firmware updates, and device replacement without a keypad or separate commissioning tool.

Fanless FSB — the sweet spot

At 2.2 kW and 3 kW, the FSB frame still operates without a fan — the heatsink and natural convection are sufficient. This means the drive draws approximately 250 mA from the 24 V DC rail, half the consumption of the fan-cooled 4 kW FSB variant, and produces no fan noise. For conveyor lines in food-and-beverage or logistics facilities where multiple drives run in occupied spaces, the absence of fan noise across the mid-power fleet is a genuine operational difference.
